Mabon greetings !!

Today is the Autumn Equinox or Mabon. Mabon is the second festival of the season of harvest - at the beginning of the harvest, at Lammas, winter retreated to his underworld, now at the Autumn equinox he comes back to earth. This is a time to reflect on the past season and celebrate nature's bounty and accept that summer is now over. Harvest Home marks a time of rest after hard work, and a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of nature. This is the time to look back on the past year and what you have achieved and learnt, and to plan for the future.

Tree and I celebrated with the first harvest of apples from our own trees, planted a couple of years ago. What better example of the relationship between us and Mother Earth can be found. Slice an apple width ways and see the pentacle, symbolising the elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. Eat one half and share the other with your partner, joining in a blessed union of old.

Equinox greetings.

Is it that time of year again? Where has it gone? I guess starting the business has meant that my time has been taken up so as I wouldn't notice. Anyway, glad tidings for the Equinox tomorrow and may you enjoy whatever form of celebration you observe. I'm not sure that I will be out at 4AM trying to balance eggs but rather tucked up in bed instead.
On a crafty note, I have been invited to submit some of my work for exhibition at the Cracked Cauldron in Chester, which I am dead chuffed about, and they will take commissions for me as well ,in return for a small percentage. They review the situation every three months to give other craftspeople a chance to exhibit. I also have had some interest in the chairs from the Jinney Ring craft centre! It would be nice if I could get to the point where I just do the festies and gallery work. That way I could concentrate on some more adventurous projects I have in mind.
Talking of festies, we are already looking ahead to booking next years festivals and have already booked Blissfields, even though we don't know for sure where it will be!

Feel Me now as Mother Earth
I am your rock of strength.
Rest at this space of balance, where day and night
are equal and prepare to journey with me
into the dark.
I am the setting sun. I am the waning moon.
I am the Autumn leaves
as they fall into me,I am Earth.
Feel My presence, firm beneath your feet.
Treat Me with respect.
I will hold you safe in the darkness
of your journeying.
I am your rock of strength.
Wendy Andrew.

I wanna stay in bed another hour !!

Tree and I were up and out, not too early, yesterday and made our way to Cirencester. It was good to see the circle has improved even more since we last came. We cleared some fallen branches and had a lovely celebration to mark the Spring Equinox. Afterwards we went on a walk to the farthest point of the woods to find the deer antlers I had spotted some time ago, but to no avail. We found the skeleton of the deer some way from where it had been originally and suppose that a fox had dragged it there. Sadly, we did not find the antlers. Nearby we found some large burrows in the ground which are either a fox or badger sett. Oh well, it was not meant to be. No doubt I shall find some others soon.
Today was difficult, as I always find the clocks going forward messes with my sleep, and it always takes a couple of weeks for me to adjust. At least the evenings are lighter, which is so much better!

Bright blessings for the Equinox celebrations

Yet again I have to offer belated greetings for the passing of the Spring Equinox. Most people we know are celebrating this Sunday, as indeed we are. Tree and I have been invited to a gathering at Mosely Bog but have decided to go to Cirencester to celebrate. I spent most of yesterday writing the form of the ceremony and I look forward to getting there. The weather looks promising as well, not that it matters too much but I do like to be dry. I may get a chance to use my new stethoscope that Tree got me and listen to the trees talking in the wind. Anyway, have a good celebration, however you mark it, and be full of cheer for the herald of Spring! Bright Blessings!!
